Pro Profile - Kevin Winzeler
|
|
Growing
up among the expanses of mountains and swathes of red rock in Utah
which he affectionately calls home, he warmly recounts how it
nurtures his creative spirit. It also bolsters his innate drive to
seek adventure, and shapes his perception of nature as a "sacred
place". "The mountains of northern Utah and Red Rock in
Southern Utah inspire me and are places that I go to help nurture the
creative spirit,"he says. Having enjoyed team and individual sports in
school, he pursued sports and adventure sports when he made his foray
into photography for the first time after deciding to forsake his
full-time job for it. "Being
able to get into the outdoors and combine my passion for photography
with the sports I grew up with was a dream come true,"he
elaborates. While his dream of having a gallery and
pursuing landscape photography still lingers, his focus shifted early
to capturing action and sports, and building a professional career
around commercial and advertising work. We are talking to Kevin
Winzeler this month, whose work boasts exemplary sports and action
photographs, coupled with a grand clientele that includes Adobe
Systems, Columbia Sportswear, Skiing Magazine, and Skullcandy.

Festivals of India - Rathyatra
|
|
Ratha yatra
or the 'Festival of Chariot' is based around the worship of Lord
Jagannath. It is celebrated as Lord’s annual visit to his
birthplace, the Gundicha Temple, and his aunt’s home.
The actual
Rath Yatra Festival originated at Jagannath Puri, but it is
celebrated in small and large scales all over India. The festival is
also known as Gundicha Jatra, Ghosa Jatra, Navadina Jatra, Dasavatara
Jatra and by a variety of other names depending upon the region it is
being celebrated in.

Feature - Everyday Pakistan - A story of misrepresentation
|
|
Imagine a group of young girls playing
football and getting a picture clicked afterwards. You would imagine
this to be a scenario of any western country or even India (where
women are still fighting for equal rights), but what if I tell you
it’s actually from Pakistan! You might not have left that country
out intentionally in your mind while thinking of this scenario, but
the media of both the countries and worldwide have tapped into our
subconscious and have changed our perception about that country
completely.

Review - Canon 1500D
|
|
The EOS 1500D is an
entry-level DLSR camera announced by Canon to replace the EOS 1300D.
Designed for beginner and new users who want better image quality
than their smartphones usually provide. The EOS 1500D has a 9-point
autofocusing and Canon's Scene Intelligent Auto mode for simple
point-and-shoot photography. The EOS 1500D only sports minor upgrades
to the EOS 1300D, which mainly is the higher-resolution CMOS sensor,
which is the same chip as used in the majority of Canon's current
entry and mid-level DSLR cameras. The DIGIC 4+ processor is unchanged
and the 1500D also comes with the older CR2.RAW file format.

Tips and Tech - Keeping it artificial
|
|
Keep it natural, they say. This is a
platitude that has been doing its rounds in not just photography, but
in almost every form of art. However, with technology growing by
leaps and bounds, and with its foray into photography, such an advice
to keep it natural would sound trite even. This time, we are going to
tell you ways to use artificial light and how to break away from the
conventional, age-old way of using natural light.
