Pro Profile: Dina Douglass

In our search for a highly gifted wedding photographer to feature this month, we came upon Dina Douglass. Our focus was on photographers who shot Indian weddings and thus most naturally we expected to find a photographer of Indian origin. This is why Dina Douglass comes as a lovely surprise. Even without an Indian connection, Dina has a highly proficient body of Indian wedding images. Her work shows us that she has an innate understanding of the different Indian customs and sentiments.

Shoot My City: Jaipur - The Pink City

Jaipur, the royal city of Rajasthan has amazing stories of heroism to tell. It was formerly known as Dhundhar state and was named after its founder Maharaja Jai Singh II (1693-1743), who founded the city and ruled Jaipur form 1727. Even though 28 kings ruled for six centuries at Amer, today Jaipur is much better known where only ten Maharajas have presided over the throne over the last two hundred and fifty years. This has as much to do with the grand vision of Sawai Jai Singh II who founded Jaipur as with the British who began the custom of calling the states by the names of their capitals.

Photo Encounter: Turn your boring flight into a sky safari

On a recent flight abroad, instead of tuning into the boring in-flight entertainment. I decided to pull up my window shutter to discover the magnificent view that was passing from under me. It was then that I realized about the picture opportunities that were right below me. This prompted me to take out my camera and capture the sea of clouds we were floating through.

Website Review: Canvera.com

If you have been following the magazine for the past few months then you would be well aware about the products and services that the Bangalore based company Canera offers. Well, this month we set out to review the process that the company talks very highly about, which makes the lives of photographers extremely easy with a easy 4-step process for making, ordering and receiving their photography coffee table books/ albums at their doorsteps. The website is ideally designed to cater to professional photographers, but we set out to see how foolproof the whole plan was and whether a regular amateur/ semi-professional/ professional can also use the website and its services…
