So We’ll Go No More a Roving - Honouring Bill Cunningham

There are moments in time when one person comes and changes the way the rest of the world thinks and looks at the things. Great men like these have seldom carved the path for thousands of others and have quietly left us. Bill Cunningham is one such man. Cunningham aged 87 died in New York City on June 25, 2016 throwing the entire photography community in a shock. We thought it would be wise to educate our readers who have just started photography about this great man and his contribution to the photography industry.

Your first fashion shoot

Photography as we know today has many sub-genres and specific photographers take on their specialised genres as they have prepared and trained themselves for it. It takes years of practice and dedication to master the skill sets that is required to produce the best from a specific genre. Be it photojournalism, wildlife, weddings or fashion and advertising. For the newer generation of photographers, formal training has become a certain mandate as people seek to acquire formal training in photography before they embark themselves for shooting either on independent basis or work with any agency. Now speaking about fashion and commercial photography, the first shoot that you organise is very important as it will pave the way for you to do more shoots like that. The first time however is going to be tricky as you have never shot fashion or commercial assignments. It can be a headache and might cause your stomach to crunch because you have not done it before. But there is a first time for everything, and the first time is very important.

On location lighting techniques

Portraiture, fashion, and sometimes wedding photos and modelling photos would need adequate amount of light to meet the quality needs of the photographer to get a good shot. Such cases need a good amount of fix to get the lighting fixed to go ahead with the planned shot. Professional fashion and editorial photographers have this segment well-sorted lights and lighting accessories which give them immense freedom to create what they want. But in smaller scales, buying or renting such equipment becomes expensive. Now considering the fact that you are someone who has started to shoot fashion and now need some lighting arrangements for your images to take them a step ahead, you have to consider fairly inexpensive ways and fixes to set up lighting on your location.

Semi Professional Camera Shootout

Semi professional cameras are always a big player when it comes to having a second body for professional shooters or enthusiasts who are upgrading from their basic point-and-shoot or beginner DSLRs. Semi professional DSLRs are often the mix of best of the higher end models and serious upgrades from the beginner DSLRs. This month we shall test the semi-professional cameras by the manufacturers who claim their territory in the semi professional section of DSLRs.
