Anthropological Photography
"My focus is on what I like to call the ‘human experience,' I guess you could call it Anthropological Photography. I like to catch diverse people in their natural environment, simply doing what they do. Even my landscape shots are usually tied back to some element of the human experience or hold greater insight into current events. Teaching is like a main course and photography as a desert for me", says Colin Boyd Shafer, a teacher by profession and an enthusiastic photographer.

Shoot My City: Banglore

We know it as the Silicon Valley of India, a city at the forefront of a nation's multibillion dollar IT industry. Bangalore conjures images of squeaky-clean offices awash in the glow of computer screens. On its streets, young and smartly-dressed Bangaloreans walk to the rhythm of a tech-savvy world, their laptops in tow along with their iPods and handphones. Late-model cars crisscross the avenues, passing by buildings adorned with glittering neon lights. This is a city that truly thrives on the present. Yet behind this coat of modernity lives a Bangalore that saunters to a much slower pace of life.

Colour, the essence of life

Although monochrome has its charm, but let's face it, life would have been terribly drab if colours did not exist. A world void of colour is unimaginable. Landscapes and seascapes take life from the different shades of greens and blues, the colours of the bird's feathers, the different colours of fish, and the multicoloured flowers.

Colour plays a vital role in the Universe in which we live in. Colour can sway thinking, change actions, and cause reactions. It can irritate or soothe your eyes, raise your blood pressure or suppress your appetite. When used in the right medium, colour can save on energy consumption too!

The Art of Automotive Photography

The Indian automobile industry has grown leaps and bounds since 1898, a time when some of the first international cars had touched the Indian streets. At present it holds a promising 10th position in the world with being No. 2 in the two wheelers and No. 4 in the commercial vehicles. Automotive photography and its equipments such as skimmers still pose a problem in our industry today and are manually arranged unlike abroad, where everything's digital. Due to manual handling of the heavy shooting elements the time taken to complete an assignment is long than usual. Nonetheless slowly things are getting better and digital lights are being used for shooting.

The Kenyan Safari

Going to Kenya was one of the most riveting experiences of my otherwise already eventful life. When I took this decision to go to East Africa, I never knew it would turn out to be the craziest and the most fulfilling vacation in my life. This is precisely why I have decided to pen down my thoughts and share it with those looking to find fascinating holiday destination.

As the saying goes some of the best things in life happen by chance, this was one such instance. I wholeheartedly thank the officer in the American Consulate who rejected my Visa leading to a missed opportunity to go to Alaska. This gave me the impetus of going to Kenya and treating my lenses to some exotic animals in the wild.
