Masters - David LaChapelle

There are simply some photographers that cannot be featured in our Pro-Profile section. The 'Masters' section celebrates the legends of the craft who have, through their work, completely revolutionised the photography industry. They are an inspiration to many around the world. We speak to one such photographer this month - David LaChapelle. For the ones who have been living under a rock or are new to photography, he is an American commercial photographer, fine-art photographer, music video director, and film director. His work, sometimes surrealistic, sometimes referring to pop culture, art history and sometimes simply banal, is often imitated but seldom perfected by photographers across the globe. He has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood as well as the fashion industry and has been a pupil of the biggest pop artist that the visual art movement has ever produced. We talk to him about his recent work, shot for the Lavazza calendar 2020, his hiatus from Hollywood and life in Hawaii and much more.

Festivals of India - Celebrating the Republic

India celebrates its Republic Day every year with zeal on 26th January. It is a national holiday throughout the country and it honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect. The Constitution of India was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949. Although India achieved independence from the British Raj on 15 August 1947, which is celebrated as Independence Day, Republic day holds a special place in people's hearts. India takes its constitution quite seriously which clearly shows as almost each and every school in the country teaches the various aspects of the same in Hostory classes along with recital of the Preamble in assemblies in many schools. Two of the biggest Republic Day celebrations take place in two metro cities. Delhi, the country's capital, celebrates the occasion with a parade which is organised by the Ministry of Defence. The parade commences from Rashtrapati Bhavan (the President's residence) and the celebrations last for three days. Mumbai on the other hand celebrates their parade at Shivaji Park ground in the heart of the city along with several other smaller parades in different locations. We went to this year's parade in Mumbai to bring to you the visuals of how the economic capital celebrates the day.
