Shoot My City: Surat

Our decision to feature Surat as this month's Shoot My City destination initially met with skepticism. Admittedly Surat wasn't a tourist hotspot such as Agra, Mumbai or Kashmir. And Gujarat also had more famous cities such as Ahmedabad with its temples and mosques and Vadodara with its many palaces. So the idea very much boiled down to featuring a destination that wasn't discovered earlier and to maximize this to our advantage.

Surat has really bounced back after all the negative press it received over the 1994 Plague Epidemic. The city is now considered the second cleanest city in India only behind Chandigarh. We reached the city by train well after midnight and found clean and spacious roads lit up only by the orange street lights. The city was well asleep and there was not a soul in sight.

Kingston 32GB Elite Pro 133X Compact Flash card

With space offering by cards such as the Kingston 32GB Elite Pro 133X CF, even RAW shooters can click away without worrying about hitting full capacity…

Tips & Techs: Watch photography

There are so many different genres of photography that you will have to spend a lifetime to specialize in more than two genres. And that makes it harder to find a field that you are really interested and meant for. You need to explore, experiment photography to figure out the field that you can specialize. But this does not mean you take your lifetime to figure out, than you would just end up as Jack-of-all-trades, master of none. Specialization is very crucial for any photographer not just for the "expert tag" but also to explore more and still not be completely enlightened. Even though people debate whether photography should be considered an art form or not, photography like any other art form requires skill, creativity, emotion and endless possibilities to express anything and everything…
